Mr.Fix It

Alex worked SO hard to fix up the house and he made it look fabulous! He did tiling, wood floors, drywall, baseboards, septic work, all types of calking and grouting.. not to mention both of our cars breaking down and him fixing them both as well. He's a super stud.

He replaced the foaming in the entire living, hall and dining room and new wood in the dining room.

I don't even remember what happened here
but there were many ouchies during this project

And in case somehow you saw this post but not the one about this project..

Beach Babes

We went beach hopping today! Alex likes skim boarding and does it every time we go out.. which is great since I like to swim forever and ever. We often get to swim with a few small schools of fish but there was some crazy breeding/feeding party today. I couldn't get a picture to come out clear but there were HUNDREDS.

We're not awkward at all.

Hello again.

SO MUCH has happened. We moved into a house that needed MAJOR plumbing work. But after a whirlwind of floods and contractors and issues and anxieties we're in the home stretch. We finished tiling the bathrooms and we're about a half day away from finishing all the wood flooring for the living and dining rooms.
During some of the major surgeries to the house, Alex and I stayed in a hotel for 7 nights. We brought our dogs and took advantage of the hot tub, trying to make the best out of it. As usual, I took a million pictures of our dogs and barely got anything good but lets start the ball rolling by having a picture post, shall we?

Best/Worst part about staying in a hotel : Eating bad for us food for every meal

There was a candy machine in the lobby and we had a ton of change so I ate about a dozen candy bars that week too.

Sometimes there was boredom. Results = sweet dance moves and notepad drawing art shows

Lots of love and pool time too

Taking time away from this blog wasn't really a choice so much as a side effect of life being crazy but I have a few projects to post and a few still in the works. :) Happy Monday to all!

Wedding Arch

Alex and I got married at our church and to decorate the sanctuary for our wedding, we wanted to make a flowered arch to stand under. We started with a basic metal rod arch and flowers from Michael's and a bunch of clearance christmas lights from walmart.

Alex bought and cut strips of white lattice from home depot and attached them to the arch with clear zip ties. (cutting off the excess of course) Then I attached the lights to the arch, weaving them around the lattice. Once that was done, I attached the flowers by snipping them short and just twisting them around the lattice and lights. Most silk flowers have wire stems.

To keep it steady, Alex made stands using wood boards and metal rods. (See, this arch came with stakes for feet because it was originally intended to be put in the ground.) And, Voila!

After the wedding, we kept the arch up at our apartment until we moved. When we did, we didn't really have a place for it and truthfully, it's sort of big to keep as a piece of every day furniture. Besides I wanted to grow something on it..

So these days, the lights are strung up between the shed and a big tree in our backyard. The arch has a vine growing on it and I recently planted morning glories (not pictured) that are growing fast! I have a project going with the flowers that will come in a future post. (If I EVER finish it..)
